Originally established in the mid 1800s and known as Central it was and remains today the ideal location for commerce between the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Bordered on the east by I-170, on the west by Lindbergh Blvd and only minutes away from I-64/US 40 to the south and I-70 to the north, Olivette truly is in the “Center of it All”.

Adjacent to the County Seat in Clayton and only seven miles from St. Louis Lambert Airport it provides easy access to government, transportation and shipping. With a median household income rising over 32% in the past ten years Olivette is rapidly becoming home to professionals choosing to live in a vibrant and growing community located in the award winning Ladue School District. 
The Olivette business community is a wonderful mix of national names and is supported by exceptional Police, Fire and Parks.

Police

The Olivette Police Department began operation in the early 1950s with two officers. Today, it has a staff of twenty-three commissioned police officers, a police records clerk and an animal control officer. In 2010, the Olivette Police Department received State Certification from the Missouri Police Chiefs Association. There are only seven departments in the State of Missouri to receive this prestigious certification. In addition, 13% of the police officers have attended the FBI National Academy.

In 2006 The City of Olivette was presented with the Outstanding Local Achievement Award for Intergovernmental Cooperation by East West Gateway Council of Governments. This award is the result of ongoing commitment to partner with other governmental agencies, coordinating Police and Fire Protection among those agencies and the East Central Dispatch Center to better protect and serve everyone who lives, works or travels through the City of Olivette.

OLIVETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fire

The Olivette Fire Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the citizens it serves. Through education, training and the use of new technologies the city is committed to the protection and preservation of life and property. The Olivette Fire Department covers the population of approximately 8,100 in a three square mile area consisting of the City of Olivette and the Elmwood Park neighborhood in unincorporated St. Louis County.The Olivette Fire Department continues to attract and train the very best. The staff of 23 is certified by the St. Louis County Fire Standards Commission and 100% of the uniformed staff is licensed by the State of Missouri as Paramedics. Its goal is to provide the best in prevention and the best in life protection when called upon.

The Department currently utilizes an Advanced Life Support equipped pumper truck, a reserve pumper truck, a Traumahawk Life Safety Ambulance, as well as two command vehicles.
